Climacure in practice
Climacure is set up on the counter floor that is to say, the ceiling in the crawlspace. The computer unit is screwed to the ceiling and the heating cable is fastened with the included cable clips. It is the house and its inhabitants you want to protect, not the ground, and therefore Climacure is best positioned on the counter floor. Considering the fact that warm air rises, the placing leads to the air being more dehumidified around the counter floor rather than around the ground, which is the desired effect. There is rarely a need for big increases in temperature; an increase of 3°C decreases the relative humidity with approximately 15 percentage units.

The cold and moisture in a crawlspace with ground cover comes almost exclusively from the outside – from the foundation walls and with the ventilated air. This is why Climacures heating cable is set up along the perimeter of the house and above all on the north and west side of the house where the sun does not shine or shines much later in the day. The climate in the centre of the crawlspace will still be better than towards the walls.
In order to prevent draught in the crawlspace, the ventilators are often covered up on three sides of the house. This is not necessary with regards to the function of Climacure, but it often decreases energy consumption of the Climacure as well as for the heating of the house.
The fact is that Climacure reduces the total energy consumption in many houses. That is to say that the heating cost decreases more than what Climacure consumes on its own.
This is mainly due to the fact that the crawlspace gets less cold in the winter but also because the insulation in the floor is more efficient when it is dry. A pleasant side effect is warmer floors during the winter.
With Climacure you take care of the fundamental problem in a very efficient manner. By just heating the crawlspace when there is a risk of damage, Climacure attains the same preventive effect as the old heated crawlspace, but with much lower energy losses. Most houses that have Climacure have a consumption of 7 kwh per square metre and year. The lifespan of Climacure Crawlspace is very long, much owing to the fact that the system has no movable parts. The estimated lifespan is 50 years.
