Information about moist, mould and other climate related issuses in the attic. Dehumidifier and rot.
- What energy consumption should I count on with regards to my uninsulated attic?
With Climacure Attic the consumption is usually under 400 kWh per year if the attic is 90 square metres. The more ventilation you have in the attic, the higher the consumption.
- I have had Climacure Attic installed for a month and it is on maximum effect all the time, is there something wrong?
No, the existing moisture must first dry out before it is possible to assess what a normal consumption will be in your house.
- There is a white growth on the ceiling in the attic, like white fluff that appears in patches. What is wrong?
It is probably white mould. White mould can be toxic and allergenic and indicates that the attic is too moist. An active dehumidification, such as Climacure Attic, is necessary.
- Where does the moisture go?
Every time the fan is active more moist leaves the attic than comes in to it. Thus the attic dries out rather quickly. If the attic is so wet that there is a risk for mould or rot growth the heating cable will warm up and make feasible an even faster drying process, as warm air can carry more moist than cold.
- Can I do the installation in the attic myself?
Yes and many people do. There are no complicated technical steps and the installation manuals are detailed. You can also send in a lay-out of the attic with cardinal points, measurements of the walls and the placement of ventilators, and then we draw how you should mount the Climacure. If you are uncertain as to whether you want to do the installation yourself you can order installation manuals through the website or by phone.
- I have discovered sections of small, dark and round spots on the ceiling in the attic. What is that?
It is probably black mould that has infested the timber in the attic. Black mould can develop when the humidity is too high during a long period of time. This type of mould is allergen and should be handled with caution.
